Working Principle of a Hydrogen Dispenser

  1. Storage: Hydrogen from the electrolyser is stored in pressure banks (low, medium, high).
  2. Connection: User connects the nozzle to the vehicle.
  3. Dispensing refueling: starts with the lowest-pressure bank, progressing to medium and high-pressure banks sequentially.
  4. Cooling:Hydrogen is pre-cooled to -20°C or -40°C (as per SAE J2601) using a chiller and heat exchanger for optimal gas density.
  5. Monitoring: Tank pressure and temperature are continuously monitored.
    • With IR sensors, the tank is filled safely without exceeding limits.
    • Without IR sensors, the SAE J2601 table-based method adjusts for vehicle data, ambient conditions, and pressure ramp rates, ensuring safety and efficiency.
